Anglais

Why do I love to teach?

I enjoy teaching for the creativity it offers. It is also rewarding. Adapting explanations to hear a student’s surprized and sudden “Ah!” when he or she understands is one of the best moments of teaching.

An author that is inspirational to me

There are so many! Hugh MacLennan, author of Two Solitudes, who so accurately painted the bi-cultural and bilingual nature of Quebec, is my first choice.

My favorite quote

“He who knows no foreign languages knows nothing of his own.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

My interests

Other than the study of how a language is learned, my interests include Victorian literature and lifestyle and Canadian literature as well as travel and international cuisine.

My favorite fictional hero

The most interesting fictional hero is Pip in Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. Pip has great expectations for himself in life. I admire Pip for his moral courage and comprehension of his own weakness as he grows.

The aspects of English I am passionate about

I am fascinated by the flexibility of the English language and how it has evolved through time due to world-wide events and how it continues to evolve.
